Drilling Activity for Sunday, August 16, 2009
Well: APS Cholla Pilot CO2 Well
Rig: Bearcat Rig 2
Activity: Align Rotary; Drill Mousehole and Rathole; Pick up workstring and drill cement
Pressure-testing of well control equipment was completed. Bearcat adjusted the chain from the drawworks to the rotary table and rigged up to drill the rathole. The rathole was drilled to 28 feet below ground level with little effort, but the kelly shuck could not be lowered completely into it due to a rock at 20 feet below ground level and loose sediments falling into the hole. The bit was worked through this tight interval and an additional five feet of hole were drilled. The kelly shuck was lowered into place and the mousehole was drilled to 25 feet below ground level and the mousehole shuck was installed. An 8-1/2" bit and drilling bottomhole assembly was picked up and lowered into the wellbore on the 4-1/2" workstring. Cement was tagged at 899 feet and was drilled down to the float collar at 917 feet. The float collar and cement below were drilled up to 950 feet.
Observations
  • Daily activities summarized to 6:00 a.m. on August 17.
